Right now l do not have any of my own hockey skates and some of my friends wanna go ice skating, but the last time l had to rent skates the ankle support sucked and it made it quite difficult to skate. Is there somthing l could do to improve this? l know of some ways but l wanna see what you guys know.

Tie them really really tight, and complain to the rink that they need new rental skates.

u could try thicker socks and ankle pads. i'm a figure sk8er, so l would not really know, but ankle pads really help for me

l would suggest wearing smaller (not too small, but small enough so hopefully you can get a tighter fit so you can get more support), and to tie the skates fairly tight, just be careful that you do not cut off your circulation. Having properly fitted skates, and lacing them properly and maybe a decent pair of socks (like a thin pair of polyester socks are adequate) is about all that l can think of to hopefully give you some more ankle support. Make sure to tie your ankles tight. If that does not help and provide enough support, maybe sneak in some hockey/athletic tape and tape the ankles of the skates (on the outside).

Before l got my own skates l had the same problem too. l used to wear two pairs of socks and lace them really tight. You might also want to try figure skates, in my experience I've found that they have better ankle support than hockey ones. You can also try using an ace bandage to wrap your ankle for added support.
