Okay, so l take lessons, once a week...l can skate really well...but l just can not get skating lessons. Please Help!!!

Backwards is easy, once you relax. stand on your skates, knees slightly bent, then curve your feet out so that your toes make ''C'' is on the ice. you will start to move backward. Go slow at first, then make the C is not sowide (do not push out so far). Move one foot at a time, and keep your knees flexed a little bit for better balance.

Sit like you are sitting in a chair.
Then one leg at a time you are going to like do a backwards ''C'' with the right leg, and then bring it back.
Then with the left leg to a big ''C and bring it back.
Its easier to show in person but l hope l explained it well enough.

l do not skate alot but can skate backwards. l know you have to lean forward and drag your skate back and away from you.

l am a figure skater, & l always teach friends to start basic backward skating in two steps.

First of all, to get the feeling of going backwards, u can try doing backward sculling / lemons. Yup, u make lemon shapes on the ice. Start with ur toes together & ur heels pointing outwards, bend ur knees & let ur feet naturally glide back & out, then using ur leg muscles, pull ur heels together until ur feet r close together again. Your blades should follow this kind of pattern on the ice (sorry, does not put the spaces in, but hope it makes sense!) . . .

The next step is do do half a lemon. Same thing - toes together, heels out & let ur feet go out. But this time, at the widest point, instead of pulling both ur legs back together, u r going to lift ur right foot & step in so ur feet r back together. Then the same thing - toes in, heels out, feet glide outwards, & then step ur left foot in this time.

The most important things to remember r not to let ur legs glide too far apart, & also to transfer ur weight right over onto the supporting foot as u step in with the other one.

Eventually, u will find that this will quite naturally lead to pushing backwards & letting one foot come off the ice & be held in front of you, but one step at a time!
