If you're an advanced skater, l would NEVER go to Dick is Sporting Goods for skates! A) they're never going to carry skates with the proper amount of ankle support for ur because they only carry recreational skates, & B) they probably do not have trained staff like a skate shop would with regards to skating. Yeah, sure they can probably tell u all about the latest in soccer cleats, dartboards & footballs, but what do they really know about figure skating..usually not a lot.

l would go to ur local skate shop or if u do not know of one, ask skaters & coaches at ur rink where they go for skates & supplies. If u have a shop in the area, go there for ur skates..do not go to Toys 'R Us or any other chain sports stores. The skate shop will be able to properly fit ur foot in a good brand & model of skate boot & blade for ur level. It sounds like you're skating in a pair of skates that were made for recreational skating -- hitting the rink or pond a few times a year with the family type of skates. If they're tearing & ur ankles hurt, there is probably no where near the amount of ankle support (boot stiffness) that u need. Your skills have probably outgrown ur skates & you're trying to do things that ur skates were never intended for (and maybe should have gotten better skates a long time ago!!!). :)

As I've told skaters here many times, u need someone to fit u in person to ensure that ur skates fit YOU! You do not want to spend all that money on skates & have them cause u problems or hold u back. Go to the shop to AT LEAST get fitted. If u do not want to buy ur skates there, don't. If u want to buy them at skatebuys.com, at least u know the size, width & model that will work best for u & ur level. If not, u may end up ordering a boot online that u can not feel & try on...it might not be the correct stiffness for u & u could break them down very quickly & be stuck buying a new pair in a short amount of time. Once u know size, width, brand, model, etc. then shop around. Check prices with ur skate shop, check skatebuys.com, check the brand is website & do not forget eBay -- they have new & used skates sometimes at better prices. Also, talk to ur coach. He/she should be able to help u out in finding this information. Depending on ur level, u may have to also get a recommendation on a blade because higher level boots & blades do not come as a set!

Good luck! :)

Ask ur mother why she supports u in Girl Scouts but not in ice skating.

She may not know why herself so give her time to answer. In fact, give her a written note & in that note ask her to take her time but to please write back to you.

By doing this in a note it takes pressure off of u both & removes the potential for emotions to cloud clear thought.

Additionally, she might not realize that u would like to focus more on ice skating than u have in the past so she might be hoping that u will drop the idea of wanting something so expensive. And ice skating is very expensive! l get such a laugh out of people that criticize us moms for ''pushing'' our kids! Do they know how much this cost?? (And l know there r people out there that do push, but still!)

So if can help her to understand how much u want to skate & how u need good skates to do it really well but do this without emotions getting in the way she might see that u need to be supported in areas other than just the Girl Scouts.

Good luck & keep us posted!

l think u said in another question that u would be starting doubles soon . . . the skate model from ur link may still not give u the support u need. Even on the description is says it is for lower level freestyles up to axel. You definitely need higher level skates . . . which will mean u need to buy the boot & blade separately. Besides the boots not giving u support, the blades that come with a skate set wo not grip the ice well for the doubles (or possibly even some of the singles depending on how hard a skater u are). It will cost more, but it will be worth it as u will have the ''right'' equipment for ur level (and for ur safety!). From what u describe, l will bet ur skating will improve greatly with higher level boots & blades u can rely on!!

l totally agree with pinksk8ergal . . . u really should get ur skates fitted by a real skate fitter in a real skate shop! l got my first skates from an inline skate shop & the owner made it sound like he was a total expert on skates (but he definitely was no figure skate expert). It was not until months later l discovered my skates were too big (and by then he was out of business). Do ur research well & get fitted with the boots in person . . . if u know exactly what u want, u can always get them online if u find a better deal. Me personally, l liked to get my boots sealed & blades mounted by the same person & locally - so if l needed to make any adjustments or had a problem with the work they did, l could always go to that person.

l am sorry ur mom is not being more supportive of ur skating. l guess she may be thinking in terms of ''practicality'' & what would help with life skills for ur future. But we all know sports, including figure skating, is more than just a physical pasttime activity . . . but some people just do not see it that way.

Maybe explain to her how u feel about skating in a way that she can understand. If she is all about ''what is more important tell her what you're learning besides the ''jumps''. Preserverance, dedication, patience, commitment, challenge, discipline, working towards goals, achievement, etc etc. It is healthy that u r in an exercise regiment now while you're still young AND MOST OF ALL skating makes u feel good inside. Yes, it is important to learn what will make u successful in life, but what is life without happiness?!

Best of luck - l hope it all works out!!!

What is your question? l do not understand what your asking really. Also, you said ''most gayest and other than being gramatically incorrect, it is definately not appropriate.
