Figure Skating is awesome. l love everything about it but here is some things that really stand out.
l love how graceful it is. l love it when i'm in the rink because its very smooth and l feel so free. l love the challenge and l do not care if l fall because its one of the sports where falling makes success. As a matter of fact, l am going to go skate right now =] ♥

l like figure skating because it is an independent sport but has lots of competitive oppurtunities as well. You do not have to be on a team & compete with another team in orde r to ''play'' it (actually, in ice skating, u do not even ''play'') unless you're in synchro. Personally, l really do not fancy synchro because u do boring stuff (no jumps, literally just holding hands & circling & doing lunges etc). l am quite an independent person & l like to compete with myself (try to get better & better every time). Competitions r great oppurtunities to show off ur talent (something l think l do best) & to see what other skaters have been doing . You can learn from other people & ur own mistakes in this sport.

Firgure skating helps me forget my current troubles at hand & l love the feeling of the wind on my face & whizzing past other people during public sessions. You KNOW those other people or saying, ''DANG!! She is good!''

Also, ice skating is filled with grace & beauty & art, which l love. It is a beautiful sport, not like soccer where people just run around trying to score a ball into a net. Sure it is exciting but it does not have the grace figure skating does.

Ice skating has been the only sport I've really enjoyed (hated swimming, despised Tae Kwon Doe, & volley ball was just ok).

What about u ? : D

Always,

l love skating because it is a combination of a physically intense sport, grace and artistry. l enjoy the thrill of landing jumps, perfecting spins and accomplishing my goals. Also, l like having the opportunity to entertain and act, as well as passing on my skills to others who enjoy the sport.

l used to like figure skating because it looked so neat & so complicated yet pretty.

Now that l know so much more about what it take l like it because l have such deep respect for what the people r doing out there to make it look so very effortless when it is so very hard.

l tried ice skating & could not even convince myself to pick up either foot! And l have sat at our ice rink for five years now watching all the levels inch forward & they r just amazing!

everything about it is fantabulos as l say when u land that jump you've been falling on for a month or more u feel like u accoplished something that is just the most awesome feeling in the world & no matter how many times u fall u get right back up again because u know once u land it u will have the best feeling ever. And watching figure skaters on tv especially sasha cohen my fav she is such a graceful awesome skater & she has really good spins l think. As well as alot of other skaters & she has awesome spirals.

My geek answer: Where else could l get a gig where l get center stage all to myself doing what l love . . . complete with a cheering audience & applause? Hee hee.

Figure skating merges many of the interests I've had throughout my life including dance, theater, & music. It has given me the opportunity to finally live out my childhood aspirations of becoming of a great roller skater (different skating but still skating!). l have been told many times that l missed my calling & should have started as a kid . . . but it took life is experiences to get me to this point . . . so l enjoy & may appreciate figure skating more as the ''adult'' skater.

l am a dancer & performer at heart. l see & treat skating moves as choreographic elements - not just athletic
feats. Tied together with music & expression, it creates a piece of art - with ice as the canvas. l love crafting a program ''for the audience'' . . . to at least make it worth their while (and the judges - wink) to be sitting there watching little ol' me! Connecting with the audience is of great importance to me. That being said, those choreographic elements still need to be every bit athletic & spectacular!

Besides keeping me physically fit, skating has also been a great mental exercise. I've gotten stronger having to deal with injuries, frustration, competition nerves, skating politics (and certain people), etc. For me, some of life is greatest lessons were learned on the ice.

l take great pride in being apart of the skating community. I've met so many skaters of different ages/levels (figure, hockey, speedskating) . . . many of whom l still keep in contact with even though l am not currently skating. l am especially grateful to those who helped me in the beginning & along the way . . . & it is been wonderful helping others & ''giving back'' to the community.

There is so much more to list . . . l am a romantic - wink!
