can you please describe it instead of like showing me a vid or something. how do you spin on one foot? cuz when l spin l can not keep spinning. Do you use your inside or outside blade? Do you apply even pressure or more on your toes? Where does my other leg go? are my arms tugged or out? Is it hard? will l need to practice a lott to get it?

P.S. u can just put ur free lef by ur ankle or cross it in from like a scratch spin. if there r other skaters at ur rink, u can ask them for help too, most will be willing to help especially the younger skates. just make sure u ask them when their not in a lesson.

l think u can jump up and then u just spin

It takes LOTS of time. to do a one foot spin, you spin counter clockwise,. starting of with your left toepick in the ice, and your arms rounded as if holding a bowl. then swing your arms to the left so that you are spinning on two feet. once you have a little more momentum, left your left foot up, spinning on your right foot. For this spin, you spin on an inside edge, on the ball of your foot

Sometimes it is easier to learn it by starting with a two-foot spin & then picking up one foot. Once u get that (or if u can already do that), then to do the spin entirely on one foot, it takes A LOT of practice.

Can u get the spin started? It sounds like u can, & then u just can not keep it going. You want to spin on the inside edge (not a deep inside edge) of the part of the blade that is just behind the toepick. It is hard to describe. You might hit the ice a little with the bottom pick as u spin (hence the name ''scratch spin'').

To start with, just keep ur other leg tucked in close & raise it up. Start with ur arms out & bring them into the center of ur chest.

Once u get comfortable with that, u can try to hold ur leg out to the side, then bring it in & across ur other leg, & then push it down so that ur ankles r crossed. The crossing part is really hard & takes a while to get. Your arms start out while ur leg is out, meet rounded as ur leg comes in (like you're holding a beach ball), & then meet in the middle of ur chest & press down as ur leg comes all the way across & moves down.

Do not get discouraged with it. It does take a while to get, & the more u practice it, the better it will be. :)

Spinning takes a while. You spin on ur outside edge. First, skate in a straight line. Then curve ur edge slightly to the left. Your non- skating leg should be behind you. When u start to rotate, slowly pull in ur arms & ur other leg. Your arms should cross against ur chest with both ur hands on ur right shoulder. You non- spinning foot should be at ur knee, pointing forwards. Once u slow ur spin, put both ur feet down & strike an arabesque pose. The key- The slower but stronger u pull in ur arms, the faster u will go. If u rip in ur arms really quickly, u wo not go fast. It probably takes 10 hours of pure spinning to master the one- foot spin.

When spinning, always keep ur weight on the ball of ur foot, & maybe dig just the little first part of the toepick in for more control.
You typically tuck ur arms in & then bring them out at the end of the spin, & where ur free leg goes depends on what spin u r doing. If it is a basic one-foot spin, just lift it like you're doing a one-foot glide. If it is a scratch spin, u slowly bring it in with ur arms, crossing ur ankles.

Start out with one or two rotations on ur first one-foot spin. ( l usually count to eight, usually never in ''Mississippi seconds'' [the 'tempo' that l count at depends on my speed], & when l reach eight, l know I've done two revolutions. ) As u become more comfortable with the spin, count higher. And then move on to other spins. =]

kk this is how l learned it (im adding the 2 foot too k) stick ur toe pick into the ice (the one that stays on the ground) then put one arm back & the other in front of you. Swing the arm in back towards the arm in front & u should be spinning. Get ur balance before u pick up ur foot. When u have ur balance pick up ur foot & put it against ur leg like in a 1 foot glide & bring ur arms in so that u keep spinning. Do ur exit & ur good to go. This will take a wile to learn longer than ur 2 foot spin but keep ur spirit high & dont give up! Good luck.
