l was given a choice this year of either changing to Pairs or Dance from Singles skating. l have not decided yet, but l was wondering, does anyone have any points on any of them that could help me decide? Like popularity or difficulty?

Thanks.

l would highly suggest pairs, because its like singles enhanced. you get to do the starlight hold and death drop (of course when you advance in the pairs area) But if you want a change of pace go with dance. Its like ballroom dancing, but you have to dance to required music. Is your choice.

Depends..
Do you like jumping and spinning? The pairs is for you.. you also need to be a bit fearless as those throws and lifts can get scary!

If you prefer not to jump or have a real hard time with it and are good with footwork, the Ice Dance would be the perfect fit!

The hardest part with either is typically finding a partner! :) Do u plan on continuing with freestyle? Dance is a different animal than freestyle, but can really enhance & improve ur freestyle skating. Dance is very technical & precise, but is still a lot of fun. Obviously u know pairs is going to still be a lot of jumping, spinning, plus lifts, but dance may be more fun because of how different it is. If u watch freestyle skaters, u can usually tell which ones have taken dance & which haven't. Freestyle/dance skaters usually have more flow & speed to their skating. Also if you're having a hard time finding a partner, u can still test ur dances with a coach or another skater, or even some dances u can test alone. With pairs, if u have a hard time finding a partner, you're kind of stuck for testing. Personally, I'd recommend dance & l think it is growing in popularity again. :)

Pairs. its like singles but more stuff. dance is pretty much all footwork.

If you like jumps and things like this, choose pairs. If you prefer beautiful dancing and maybe your jumps are a bit weak, ice dancing would be good for you. Or if you are like me, stay in single:) l always fear to hold the hand of somebody when l skate because l do not want to hurt them.
Btw, l like pairs more than ice dancing, but ice dancing is more popular, l think. There are always just some pairs but a lot of ice dancers when l watch an international competition.

well if u can FIND a pair skater l highly recomend it! its hard l guess but so much fun to have someone by your side.

after that l would suggest singles in which u only have to worry about u and can go at ur own pace. Its also tons of fun. its also good if ur a little scared of the crazy lifts in pairs

i wouldnt suggest ice dance. l found it very boring and not as challenging.
Good luck!
