l am a freestyle 5 skater and l have very good skates l am going out skating on an outdoor rink and my boyfriend plays hockey and he says that the ice will dull your blades will it?

Yes. Anything that is outside has a chance of getting on the ice. Including dust and grit.

everything dulls your blades, but bad ice will dull it quicker.
use good judgement, if the ice looks like torn up cement, buy rental skates.

All kinds of ice dulls your blades whether indoor or outdoor but they may become dull quicker on rough outdoor ice.

Hi & glad u like to skate outdoors! Generally, all skating (inside & outside) will eventually dull ur blades. It is just an accepted part of the sport! Skating outside frequently, will dull the edge faster than indoors, usually due to the debris found on the ice: small bits of dirt, clumps of ice, twigs, so on. It is not a big deal, as u will just have to have the blades sharpened a little more often. Most blades have plenty of ''tempered' steel on them for this purpose(the area of the blade that does not look so shiny on the sides, about .5mm). Just check ur blades after every skating session (indoors & out) for any nicks & damage. If the nicks get too big, u will also need a sharpening. So, go have fun!

Yes, it will. l went to an outdoor rink for fun, and my coach would not let me bring my skates (they are a $1000 pair of skates). l had to rent skates. l felt like a beginner. but it was fun!

yes because of all the bumps,dirt and dust.
