how should l pack my skates in my suit case to insure a safe destination?l wanna make sure my ice skates do not get damaged. l know to put the guards on, but what else?

My suitcase comes with two straps in it so l Can securely strap them each in. But if you do not have that maybe consider purchasing on of these skate bags:

When l pack my skates in my checked luggage, l put the guards on, then put the soakers on over the guards (mine are stretchy enough to do this) for extra padding. Then l pack them within my clothing - l surround the skates, on all sides, with clothing, so the clothes act as padding. And that is it.

l just put my skates in my backpack & they are fine. they are pretty. l just put the soakers on & lay them in there. l dont do anything hardcore while im wearing my backpack so they've never got scratched or anything

l would probably leave my soakers on, but l would get skate bags for them. Usually skate shops have them near the soakers & u can get them to match ur soakers & in all sorts of colors/patterns. They're made out of the same materials as soakers, r a great size for skates & usually have a draw string to close them. Each skate goes in it is own bag, so they're not rubbing on each other causing scratches or on anything else in ur bag.

l would call the airline to verify, but if they allow u to, l would pack my skates in my carry-on bag...or maybe gate-side check them if u can. Security has changed a lot since 09/11/01. As an ''airline brat,'' l traveled enough to not have my bag always follow me when l check it. When l fly, l try to pack so that l do not have to check anything...too many years living with a flight attendant mom! :) In the past, if l traveled with my skates, l took them on the plane with me. We all know how expensive skates are, so if they will let you, maybe keep them as close to u as possible. If ur bag does not make it to ur destination at the same time u do, at least ur skates will -- which ur skates may be worth more than ur whole suitcase combined! :)

l would suggest making sure that your skates are dry and putting your hard guards on (make sure to replace the soakers after you get to your destination) l would also suggest getting skate bags for your skates so that they wo not scratch each other in travel, and l would suggest packing clothes around the skates.
