How do you let them dry? I've heard not to put them upside down because it could run onto the white part of the skate, but l couldnt understand when someome tried to tell me their way of doing it.

What is the best way to do it? Is it also good to lightly sandpaper them first?

[P.s. Ive had skates before, this is my third pair, but l never varnished them. l sure learnt my lesson from my last pair, its worn down so much that the inside of the blade is touching the ice when l do drags now!]

It is best to use clear varnish so that you can tip the skates upwards so that the varnish can dry. You can lightly sand the heel before you put the varnish on, but you do not have to, everybody does it differently and finds the way that they like to do it best. l typically have a professional do mine since l have to have blades mounted after they are varnished.
