Im 12 yrs old and l wanna do pair skating..
l do not really like preforming alone because l get really nervous
i am in FS1 but l can do stuff until FS4..
l have 2 probs:
1.) My dad might not allow me
2.) How do l find the right partner?

To be a good pairs skater, u still have to be a strong single skater. So first off, I'd concentrate on building ur own skills. You may find that eventually u would rather skate alone.

Why wo not ur dad allow u to try pairs? Is it the skating in general that he does not agree with or is it the aspect of pairs skating being a little more dangerous? l would try to narrow down where his negativity lies in regards to it. Is he worried that u will get hurt? Once u find out why he wo not allow you, then maybe research whatever it is he has concerns with.injuries, expenses..boys. :) Just approach the topic as maturely as possible & have some research done on the topic. Be ready to answer any questions he has, have information to hopefully disqualify any problems he may have with it & explain to him why u want to do it.

Finding a partner is not always easy mainly because there just do not seem to be as many male skaters as female. There r web sites for finding partners, but they may not always be in ur area of the country.

Talk to ur coach & see if they can help u out. Maybe try getting into ice dance too. Skating with a partner for dance may help with some experience til u can get ur dad to be more agreeable on the topic. Good luck!!

Pair Skating is awesome! You will love it! l know how to fix one of ur problems.

l do not know if ur dad will allow u to do it or not, but l know asking him wo not hurt! Who knows, maybe he will say yes.

Try skating with a brother, cousin, or even a friend who likes to skate. They should be ur level, or better. They should be ur age or older. Make sure they r mature & take it seriously, because sometimes Pairs can cause some bad injuries. If u do not believe me, take a look at this..
