So my coach always tells me to bend my knees which at times l can do well but sometimes not like not that well on my back crossovers. Does anybody have any suggestions to help this? Any off-ice stuff l can do? Please Help!

it might be your skates, they might not be broken in yet. if this is the case l recommend walking with them on around the house for a couple hours and trying to bend.

When you're doing crossover, try to think of sitting down in a chair with your back straight. So that you're sticking your but out a little bit. And also remember to keep your weight balamced on the right part of your foot. Not too far on your toes, and not too far back either of you will fall down. Just right in the middle.

l suggest trying to do 20 mins of stretching a day. This can really help & l know from experience. Also, different sports can help with skating, for example downhill skiing is a sport that involves a ton of knee bending, if u can get used to skiing with ur knees bent, u can improve ur skating easily. Also, the old ''pretend you're sitting in a chair'' thing works too l guess, but do not try sitting too low, because that will result in u either falling over, or u getting the wrong position to be in because u r not supposed ot be too close to the ice, ''sitting in a chair'' is more for sit spins.

Yoga, Poloties but usually lot is of excersizing and stretching. keep practicing too

l suggest lots of dips or tea pots to work on the knee bend & doing them backwards will help u hit the correct part of the blade for back crossovers.
Just try to remember that bending not only improves ur performance, but helps with safety as well.if ur knees r locked & u lose ur balance it is MUCH harder to regain ur control. if ur knees r slightly bent, u have some room for correction before u fall.

Also, l disagree with Dan about walking in ur skates. Walking does not mimic the same wear on a boot that skating does, & it can cause ur boots to wear out faster & cause the boot to breakdown in places it normally would not.

It is like sitting down when you bend your knees and with your back totally straight
