First, loosen the laces by gently pulling on them.
Pull the tongue forward, & insert ur foot into the skate.
Then tighten the laces so that they're snug, but not too tight.
When that is done, criss-cross the laces around each hook.
After all the hooks have laces around them (tightly, so they do not come out), tie a bow. Make sure it is tight enough.
If the laces r too long, u can tuck them into ur skates.
If you've tied the skates well, u should be able to insert a finger into the back of the boot by ur ankle.

Hope this helps! Happy skating!

The criss-crossing through the eyelets (holes) is just like ur tennis shoes, but u need to lace ur skates really tight around the ankles. Many people have problems keeping the ankles from loosening while they're skating; to keep the laces from ''evening out,'' it is good to put overhand twists into ur laces as u put on ur boots. An overhand twist is just like the first part of tying ur shoes; u loop one lace over the other & pull tight so that the laces have switched sides when u r done.

l recommend looking at this website: http://fieggen.com/shoelace/lacingme.
The ''Knotted Lacing'' shows the overhand twist between every eyelet, while the ''Criss Cross Lacing'' shows what u should do in between the overhand twists. l put the twists into my lacing strategically; l put one in at the bottom of the extratight area around my ankles & one at the top, allowing me to have the top hook a little looser to allow my leg to bend more.

Remember, u need to get ur heel ALL THE WAY into the back of the boot before u begin lacing to prevent foot moving (and lots & lots of blisters). Also, if u can bend ur ankles in toward each other, u r not tying the ankle area tight enough. l would discourage wearing socks, as they allow ur foot to move around a lot & sometimes cause blisters. Wear tights/skating kneehighs or go barefoot. Good luck breaking in ur boots; it will be painful but worth it!

Usually, my laces r already loosened up from the day before, so all l have to do is pull the tounge forward & slide my foot in. With skates, its a good idea to stamp ur foot on the floor in the skate to be sure ur heel is all the way in & not stuck on the padding in the back. When my foot is in, l push back the tounge to get it into the position l want it, then l start tightening the laces from the toe upwards. l do not make the laces over the top of my foot too tight, but rather make them tighter in the ankle area. Once l get to the hooks, this is where my lacing may be different than other's.. l actually go over the hook & under it with the lace, rather than just hooking it from bottom up. It seems to help prevent loosening of the laces. If l have ample time, l will just tie a regular bow & then hook the ''ears'' over all 4 hooks of my skate for added hold. If l do not have much time before l have to be on the ice, which is most of the time, l just do the old double knot. :)

USUALLY U LACE THEM UP LIKE U WOULD A SHOE... THE LACES GO FROM SIDE TO SIDE LIKE SNEEKERS. THEN WHEN U GET TO THE TOP OF THE SHOE U TIE THEM.
