i've been ice skating for 8 years, l would not go with those but there is a boot that almost 100% of beginner skaters go with.

Oddly enough, l have found hockey skates to be much better for beginners to learn to skate in than figure skating skates. l learned in hockey skates, as did my brother and my two cousins (both female).

Our local ice rink rents skates and they recommend renting hockey skates to beginners as well.

l would recommend renting some (of both types) to try them out if your local rink has them to rent.
