need any tricks to get my sit spins really low and to cross my leg more on my loops. Also tricks for flips and lutzs. Is there any off ice training or streching for any of those. If so how do you do them. And what can l do on ice. Thanks

hi! so for off ice, l would reccomend stretching for 30 minutes a daym just basic arms, legs, lower back stuff, if u need to, stretches r really easy to find online, just go to a search engine. make sure to warm up before u stretch so u dont pull any muscles. then, since its ur loop u need to work on, l would reccomend doing about 20 off ice a day, making sure to keep good form & pull in & cross ur leg. forming good habits off ice makes u more confident on ice & helps to get that good habit & good form on ice all the time! for sit spins, try wall-sits to make ur legs strong enough (sit against a wall like ur sitting on a chair, hold ur arms out & hold for as long as possible) l find that off ice helps ALOT! for on ice, make sure to plan ur time so that u dont waste any. like for an hour session say u work with ur coach for 15 minutes, spend 10 minutes on loops, 10 on sit spins, 5 warming up (oh, & remember to stretch & warm up before u go on the ice to in order to utilize ur ice time fully), 10 on ur program & 10 on other jumps & spins ur working on(like lutzes & flips. best of luck!!! (oh, & it helps to do all jumps off ice)

the difficultly with the sit spin (to get them low) is that u need
muscles what u off ice barely use, so normally they r not strong enough- BUT off ice practice helps- lie down on ur back pull up ur leg over ur head in shot the duck position than u fast put them down & sit up, & try to stand up on u bent leg which is one the floor( u need the first part to gather momentum - if this exercise is already too easy for u u can make it more difficult u start in the shoot the duck position & try to stand up without help with ur hands or u free leg) do not forget to do them with both leg- with this exercise those particular muscles get stronger
loop-i suggest u more knee bend- u wil receive more high in the jump & it wil be easier the control ur leg
flip lutz- off ice u can practice how to stretch back- u can demonstrate the jump up part, but l think it is better to do without any rotation- it help to have more flexibility ( do not forget about the bend knee during to take off)

On sit spins, do not slouch ur back. Keep ur chin up & arms extended in front of ur bellybutton but no higher than that. Keep ur knees together. Try lifting ur leg more when spinning, since that could encourage ur bottom to go down further, or do it the other way around & press ur bottom down to encourage ur leg to go higher.

For any jump, practice off ice like this:
1. Stand with both feet on the ground.
2. Bend ur knees & scoop ur arms toward whichever way u jump. Turning ur shoulder toward that direction is big help as well.
3. Rotate a full circle & land on whichever foot u land ur other jumps on. Hold the landing position for three seconds.

This exercise helps ur body get used to the rotation & next time u do ur jumps, it is easier to get around.

As for the flip, try scooping ur arms in to ur chest on whichever side u jump on (ex. if u r a right-handed skater, pull ur arms into ur left side, vice versa. Turning ur shoulders that way helps, too. One problem l have with my flip is l rotate too slow, but l jump high enough to get away with it. So, try to rotate quickly & when u land, it does not matter how many or which foot u landed on, always pull into a proper landing position to train ur body to land like that once u do have it.

Squats are excellent for sit spins. Hold the squats REALLY long. Try to work your way up to holding a squat for a minute or longer.
Also, do leg lifts to help your sit spins.

For your flip, pretend you are a pole vaulter and a pole. Your toe pick is like the pole, and your body is like the vaulter. Use your toepick to pull the rest of your body over an imaginary line over the ice. This is good for hiegth and rotation.
