l can skate just fine..i am actually pretty good but l cant skate backwards l can barely stop and l seem to only have one speed(dont like and probably cant go fast)i rarely fall and l can go for hours..any tips on the things l cant do??

well, falling is just a fact of life in skating. if you want to improve you're going to fall.

dont be afraid to skate backwards, so what if you fall on your butt?
its not impossible.

and speed, again, dont be afraid to fall by going faster. and if you have trouble picking up speed, try to build muscle by running or even walking!

Youtube has a lot of helpful videos that u should check out.

Turning backwards -
Glide on the ice at a moderate speed; feet shoulder width apart & perpendicular to the ice. If you're skating counterclockwise, turn ur shoulder left, & then ''untwist'' them. it should bring ur hips around.
Careful not to lean too much forward, or u will lose balance.
Take it at a moderate pace.. turn left on 1. 2. & 'untwist' on 3..

As for stopping. kind of hard to illustrate with words.
Glide with two feet perpendicular to ice.. shoulder with apart.
T-stop.. bring ur right foot behind ur left, & make a ''T'' shape with ur blades (upside down). Make sure the outside of ur blade(right foot) is facing down so you're not just dragging the blade.
Hockey stop -
Bend ur knees while turning ur legs & hip around, so the flat side of both ur blades r working against the ice. (look up videos)

Going faster -
You do not need to push off fast in order to go fast.
Make sure ur blades r either gliding with the ice, or pushing against the ice. Make sure it is not slipping when you're pushing off.
Do not just focus on the foot that is pushing off either. When u land ur foot, land it perpendicular to the ice, & close to ur other foot, in the direction ur pushing off. Bend ur knees & put weight on that foot as u push off with ur other foot.


Crossovers help u to gain speed while turning corners as well.


Do not be afraid to fall. make each move deliberately.
