l wanna learn how to ice skate.I'd like to go to a lake or ice skating rink and skate.There is different styles you can get like hockey or figure skates, but l do not plan on playing hockey or doing figure skating, so what kind of style ice skate should l get so l can learn?

its your choice. l didnt want to do either of them either but l chose hockey skates because they are a whole lot easier to use than figure skates.. l would go with hockey skates but it up to you

Your best bet is to go to a rink & rent a pair of hockey skates, try them out, & then rent a pair of figure skates, & see which u like best.

Most beginner skating instructors l know prefer that people start in figure skates because the blades r flatter & a little wider than the blades on hockey skates. That makes them easier for someone who is just learning to find their balance & learn basic skills. Hockey blades r very narrow & have more of a curve to them.

its easier to learn on figure skates because the blade is flatter and wider which provides more stability than the thin blade of a hockey skate. also if you ever want to be able to do spins or jumps you will need figure skates because they have a toe pick and you can not do many tricks without the toe pick.

I'd go with hockey skates. The toe pick on figure skates can trip you up and send you flying.
