How big is big? Some people find it easy to learn, other never become good at it. Try and see if it is good for you.

Learning how to ice skate would just take a little over than a month or so. By that time, with dedication, you should be able to freely move around in the ring.
However... going pro is not something you can attain by just hardwork. You would need a trainer and hours of practice and aLOT of time.. it might take years to learn how to skate like a pro.

Takes a lot of practice daily and balance. You should get a trainer or get lessons to begin with. It is a really enjoyable sport. l knew how to roller skate before ice skating. Try some lessons.

Ice skating can be really difficult to learn, however l found one little tip helped me immensely. Lean forward ever so slightly! My mum & dad taught me to skate from a pretty early age but this tip helped me when l started skating again around 15 years old. But do not lean too far! l used to live very close to an ice rink so went every week with my friends, we built up to a decent standard in a few months, l then moved on to become an ice hockey referee & play street hockey.

l think u could compete in adult competitions & yes it is hard & painful to learn figure skating(much harder than it seeems on TV-they do it so effortless) but it really worth it u must practice a LOT & l mean really LOT. u must be really assiduously & l think l 3-4 years u can become professional l think it takes a year to learn basic moves some easier single jumps spins, & feel secure on the ice, move fast nice & elegant without the fear of falling and maybe 2-3 years to land an axel & doubles but it depends on how much u practice how talented u are And if u live far away from the rink off ice practice is really important for you do a lot of stretching( spirals look much better if u r flexible) practice jumps, rotations - u do not have the opportunity to spend a lot time on the ice & do jumps 100 times a day but ur body must remember how take control during the rotations to be able to land consistent & jumps (especially axel & doubles) a spinner can be also a good idea to practice the spins off ice also balance is really important (you can progress much faster if u have good balance) try to take ballet lessons if it is possible if not just do alone some exercises

it is not really hard, if you roller skate too then its sorta like roller skating except on ice and with blades not wheels. When l first tried l was able to ice skate after awhile.

l was 9 when l started skating, & l was doing doubles within the year l started. ANything is possible if u put ur mind to it . l was at the rink every day for 2 hours & l always did the group sessions at night. l also had an coach. Who l would practice with at least 2x a week for 40 minutes. It is not cheap or easy or painless to rise to the top. It is hard, also ive been skating for 5 years & Ive only been to Northwest Regionals & the Arctic Winter Games. Those competitions r hard. Im not 16 yet but if u start now u probaly will start competitions & stuff by the time u r 14 (im assuming ur 13 or something) l dont know if ur like me in being able to jump easily. But l had a will to skate, & where there is a will there is a way. Go for it.

You should definitely try taking lessons, l took lessons since l was 11 & it was pretty easy for me to learn. If u want to be really good, u could try out group lessons & private lessons to see which one works better for you. If u live far away from the rink that could make things a little harder, but l live almost an hour away from my rink & l can still get my dad to drive me there because there is a restaurant he likes near it [ l am 14.] l do not think it would be too hard for u to get good, u should give it a try.
